Designed 24 email templates, built 8 automation flows (welcome, abandoned cart, winback, post-purchase), and segmented their list.
Our approach
Bloom & Root makes gorgeous ceramic planters. Their Instagram was beautiful. Their website was beautiful. Their emails looked like they were designed in 2014. Plain text on white backgrounds, no imagery, generic subject lines. Open rates had cratered to 12%.
We started by redesigning all email templates to match their brand aesthetic — earthy tones, beautiful product photography, clean typography. Then we segmented their list by purchase behavior: first-time buyers, repeat customers, VIPs, and dormant subscribers. Each segment got different messaging.
The automation flows were the biggest revenue driver. The abandoned cart sequence alone recovered $47,000 in its first 90 days. The post-purchase sequence (care tips + cross-sell recommendations) generated a 22% repeat purchase rate within 60 days.
